Karl Anderson’s journey in the U.S. Life Insurance industry began in 1986 at The Equitable, now AXA Equitable. In roles with the Career Agent and Third-Party sales organizations his responsibilities included managing carrier product relationships and selling agreements with third party firms. As a member of the Life Insurance Marketing Group, he developed and introduced new life insurance and annuity products, conducted competitor analysis and strategic planning. He worked with colleagues in AXA’s Paris headquarters and other countries, such as Spain, England, Portugal, and Germany. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Financial Assurance Federal Credit Union, the company-sponsored credit union.
In 2008, Karl joined New York Life becoming a Corporate Vice President, a role that led him to the firm’s Westchester and Manhattan offices for the next ten years. At New York Life, Karl was a member of the Retail Life unit where he conducted competitive research and analysis at the product, company and industry level. He also participated in designing new products and riders, provided training and sales support to the Career Agent and Third-Party distribution channels. Furthermore, Karl developed producer training and marketing materials, monitored new business underwriting techniques for the underwriting and service departments, and assisted with strategic planning and analysis. At the end of 2018, Karl retired from New York Life and launched his boutique consulting practice.
Karl is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He is an active member of the LOMA Society of Greater New York. He is a 1985 graduate from SUNY at Oneonta (Oneonta, NY) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in Business-Economics.
Karl and his wife reside in Babylon, NY. Here they support a number of educational organizations and institutions. They serve on the board of The Mayor E. Donald Conroy Scholarship Committee (Babylon, NY). They are members of the Washington and Lee University Parents Leadership Council (Lexington, VA), the Chaminade High School President’s Society (Mineola, NY), and the SUNY Oneonta 1889 Society (Oneonta, NY). Karl was active in Babylon Little League Baseball for many years as a volunteer coach, Treasurer and President.
