U.S. Life Insurance Activity Stumbles in March Reports the MIB Life Index
The MIB reports that U.S. life insurance application activity fell sharply in March, down 4.9% compared to last March, and for the year the MIB Life Index is down 1.0% at the end of the 1Q ‘19 compared to 1Q ‘18.
The sales shift remains away from younger age buyers, with the composite showing strong growth coming from older age life insurance applicants.
In March, application activity for:
Ages 0-44 fell -9.1%
Ages 45-59 fell -4.5%
Ages 60+ grew +7.6%
For the year, overall application activity is down 1.0% and the results by age group show:
Ages 0-44 fell -6.1%
Ages 45-59 grew +0.5%
Ages 60+ grew +12.6%
