U.S. Life Insurance Activity Flat in April Reports the MIB Life Index

The MIB reports that U.S. life insurance application activity was flat in April 2019 at +0.1% compared to last April. For the year, the MIB Life Index is down 0.7% compared to the same period for 2018.

The sales shift remains away from younger age buyers, with the composite showing strong growth coming from older age life insurance applicants.

In April, application activity for:

1. Ages 0-44 fell -4.01%

2. Ages 45-59 grew +1.3%

3. Ages 60+ grew +10.8%

For the year, overall application activity is down 0.7% and the results by age group show:

1. Ages 0-44 fell -2.7%

2. Ages 45-59 fell -0.7%

3. Ages 60+ grew +3.36%
