U.S. Life Insurance Activity Improves in May Reports the MIB Life Index

The MIB reports that U.S. life insurance application activity was 1.1% higher in May 2019 compared to last May. For the year, the MIB Life Index is down 0.4% compared to the same period for 2018.

The sales shift remains away from younger age buyers, with the composite showing strong growth coming from older age life insurance applicants.

In May, application activity for:

1. Ages 0-44 fell -2.8%

2. Ages 45-59 grew +0.5%

3. Ages 60+ grew +13.3%
